Kristen Hamilton

Research Assistant Professor

Dr. Hamilton received her Ph.D. in Medical Psychology at the Uniformed Services University in 2010 and completed postdoctoral fellowships at Yale School of Medicine and the University of Maryland. Currently, Dr. Hamilton is Research Assistant Professor at the Center for Addictions, Personality, and Emotion Research (CAPER) in the Department of Psychology.

The overarching goals of Dr. Hamilton’s research are to examine neurobiological and psychological mechanisms underlying impulsivity, and to develop interventions that target these mechanisms in order to reduce impulsivity and engagement in harmful behaviors.  In her NIDA funded K99/R00 research she is examining neurodevelopmental changes in brain activation and connectivity underlying choice impulsivity as they relate to changes in risk behavior engagement (e.g., substance use, risky sex).
