Elana began the PhD program at the University of Maryland in 2012 and currently works with Drs. Carl Lejuez and Laura MacPherson in the Center for Addictions, Personality, and Emotion Research (CAPER). Elana is currently involved in several projects that examine Behavioral Activation as a treatment for cigarette smoking and elevated depressive symptoms. Her research interests involve nicotine addiction and illicit substance use and their impact on additional health behaviors (specifically, HIV\AIDS). Elanas primary clinical interests are in low-income substance users. She approaches therapy from a behavioral framework.
