Dr. Jordan Epistola is a postdoctoral research fellow with the University of Maryland and the Consortium of Washington Universities. Born in Seattle as a first-generation Filipino American, he earned his Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the University of Maryland in 2022.
After graduation, Dr. Epistola worked as a Senior Data Analyst at Walmart HQ, applying I/O psychology principles combined with advanced analytics and machine learning solutions to automate processes, evaluate corporate programs, and identify insights to stakeholders.
His passion for research led him back to academia, where he now seeks to enhance military effectiveness and readiness through advanced AI and machine learning integration in social science research. Dr. Epistola leads the Behavioral Analytics & Artificial Research Knowledge (BAARK) Lab at the University of Maryland, directing research that bridges military applications with advanced methods and psychological theory.
Dr. Epistola's work focuses on critical issues in AI/ML implementation, measurement validity, fairness, leadership, and unethical behavior. His diverse experience across academic, federal, and corporate sectors uniquely equips him to contribute to the field of psychological science
