Dr. Sebenick earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and M.Ed. in Community Counseling at the University of Maryland. Licensed in Virginia, Dr. Sebenick has maintained a psychology private practice since 2001, providing psychotherapy and case management for older adolescents and adults. She has held teaching and doctoral supervision appointments in psychology, counseling, and higher education administration at several Washington, DC, area universities. Most recently, she has taught undergraduate courses in UMD's Psychology Department since 2021. Professional leadership includes positions on the Board of Directors for Northern Virginia Clinical Psychologists and for Formed Families Forward. She serves as a volunteer with the English Empowerment Center in Northern Virginia. Dr. Sebenick's professional activities and interests have focused on positive psychology, adult development theory, career development systems, trauma-informed intervention, and supporting social justice by building diverse community connections.
