Katie Rim (she/her) is a PhD candidate in Counseling Psychology at the University of Maryland College Park under Dr. Clara Hill. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and English Literature from Northwestern University and an M.S. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Maryland College Park. She has previously worked as a research assistant in the Behavioral Sciences department at Rush University Medical Center on an NIH-funded longitudinal study examining the co-morbidity between Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms and chronic pain.
At UMD, Katie has conducted research focusing broadly on the psychotherapy process and outcomes, including projects examining the use of challenges in psychodynamic therapy, the development of a measure on therapists' barriers to using challenges in psychotherapy, meaning-in-life in psychodynamic therapy, and therapists' perspectives on meaning-making with clients who have experienced traumatic loss. Her current research interests include the psychotherapy process and outcomes, trauma/loss, meaning-making, and religion/spirituality.
