Bio

M Pease (they/them) is a doctoral candidate in counseling psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park. They are completing their doctoral internship in health service psychology at the Towson University Counseling Center during the 2026-2027 academic year. They hold a Master of Science in counseling psychology and Bachelor of Science with high honors in psychology and minors in Asian American studies and public leadership, both from UMD. Their research program broadly explores race, gender, and sexuality and how intersectional systems and experiences of oppression contribute to mental health disparities as well as ways to create safer spaces and elevate experiences of empowerment, healing, and joy for marginalized communities. They are also a member of the Advocacy Coordinating Committee of the American Psychological Association and the Chair of the Maryland Commission for LGBTQIA+ Affairs, becoming the first out trans and nonbinary person of color in leadership of a Maryland commission
