Health care team performance is critical to the provision of safe, efficient, and effective care. Team adaptability is necessary for effective team performance and is especially critical for trauma teams, whose members must anticipate change and rapidly coordinate effective responses. Current health care team training models and strategies do not specifically leverage the training design elements and assessment-driven feedback mechanisms that improve team performance in highly dynamic settings. The goal of this project is to improve health care team adaptability and patient safety by providing the necessary conceptual framework and assessment mechanism to support the design and implementation of highly effective simulation-based team training.
