Shannon is a sixth-year doctoral student, Flagship & Dean’s Fellow, and NIMH F31/NRSA Fellow working with Dr. Alexander Shackman in the PCSAS/APA-accredited clinical psychology program. She graduated cum laude from Northwestern University in 2016 with a B.A. in Cognitive Science (Cognitive Neuroscience concentration) and Psychology, and formerly conducted research under the direction of Dr. Robin Nusslock. After graduation, she completed a Post-Baccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award (IRTA) Fellowship with Dr. Karen Berman in the Section on Integrative Neuroimaging at the NIMH. Her ongoing research aims to understand the psychobiological mechanisms that underlie the development and course of internalizing disorders (e.g., anxiety and depression). She is also interested in the impact of acute and chronic stress exposure on neural structure/function, mood, and behavior. Shannon also serves as a Clinical Extern in the Emotion & Development Branch of the NIMH, under the direction of Dr. Daniel Pine and Dr. Melissa Brotman.

Shannon will be applying to Clinical Internship in Fall 2024.
