Akram Yusuf is a doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology PhD program working under the mentorship of Dr. Andres De Los Reyes in the Comprehensive Assessment and Intervention Program (CAIP) Lab. She received her B.S. in Psychology from George Mason University.
She spent two years as a research assistant in the neuroimaging program at the University of Maryland School of Medicine's Psychiatric Research Center (MPRC), then worked as a research coordinator for the University of Maryland Advanced Depression Treatment Center (ADepT) for a year. Additionally, she was the project manager for the MPRC DANA Diversity Internship program, promoting diversity in psychology and psychiatry.
Her research interests center on how culture, religion, race, and socioeconomic factors effect psychometric properties in clinical assessments. She is particularly interested in marginalized youth communities, especially child and adolescent immigrants and first-generation diaspora youth. She also shares interest in global mental health, particular in children and adolescents.
