Yuqi (Sarah) Wang is a clinical psychology PhD student working with Dr. Fanita Tyrell in the Resilient Adaptation across Culture and Context (RACC) Lab. Sarah earned a BS in Psychology with a minor in Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh in 2019. After graduating, she stayed at Pitt as the lab manager for Dr. Jennifer Silk in the Families, Emotions, Neuroscience and Development (FEND) Lab, where she studied the relations between stress and depression in adolescent girls. Sarah earned a MS in Psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park in 2024.
Sarah's research area of interest is stress and developmental psychopathology in immigrant adolescents of color. Specifically, she's interested in how identity-related stress impacts internalizing (i.e., depression & anxiety) symptoms and the sociocultural protective factors that promote resilience in emotional health. She was awarded the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship in 2024 to pursue her research ideas.
