Jones, Desiree

Dr. Desiree (Desi) Jones is an Assistant Professor of Psychology and director of the SHINE Lab (Stigma, Human Interaction, and Neurodivergent Experiences) at the University of Maryland. Her research explores how autistic and non-autistic people understand and interact with one another, with a focus on stigma, identity, and masking in social interactions. She often centers the experiences of autistic people from underrepresented groups and uses both experimental and qualitative methods in her work. Dr.

Charpentier, Caroline

Caroline Charpentier is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, Program in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science, and the Brain and Behavior Institute. She obtained her PhD in cognitive neuroscience at University College London, UK, with her dissertation focusing on the interaction between emotions and decision-making. She then completed her postdoctoral training at the California Institute of Technology, studying the behavioral, neural, and computational mechanisms of social learning and decision-making.

Botanov, Yevgeny

I received my doctorate from the University of Kansas, completed my predoctoral internship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and specialized in Dialectical Behavior Therapy through a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Washington. Prior to joining the University of Maryland, I held assistant professor appointments at Pennsylvania State University - York and Millersville University.

Coutts, Jacob

I am a Lecturer in the Social Data Science Major and Department of Psychology at the University of Maryland. Go Terps! Previously, I earned my Ph.D. in Quantitative Psychology and MS in Applied Statistics from The Ohio State University in 2023 where I studied mediation (indirect effects), moderation (conditional effects), dyadic data analysis, resampling methods, statistical power analysis, and data visualization. I have held numerous positions in industry and academia that have given me a unique approach to and view of research methods and statistics.

Crowell McQuarrie, Susanna

Dr. Susanna Crowell McQuarrie (she/her/hers) is a licensed psychologist with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. She received her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and her doctoral degree from Georgia State University. She completed her predoctoral psychology internship at the University of California at Davis Child and Adolescent Abuse and Resource and Evaluation (CAARE) Center. Dr.

Abramson, Jessica

Jessica (Jess) Abramson (she/her) entered the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program in 2023. She works with Dr. Ethan Mereish in the Lavender Lab. She graduated from Wellesley College in 2019 with a BA in Psychology and Data Science. Her research examines oppression and oppression-based stress with a focus on the experiences of LGBTQ adolescents. She explores the effects of intersectional structural oppression on LGBTQ young people with different racial and ethnic identities.

Bradley, Valerie

Valerie Bradley is a doctoral student in the University of Maryland Clinical Psychology program, advised by Dr. Jessica F. Magidson in the Global Mental Health and Addiction Program (GMAP). After receiving her master's degree in the University of Maryland Clinical Psychological Science program in 2019, she worked as the Project Director of the NIH HEAL Initiative "HEAL Together" study, evaluating how a peer-delivered behavioral intervention can support retention in care for underserved individuals seeking treatment for opioid use disorder.

Trovato, Karoline

Karoline Trovato (she/her) is a doctoral candidate in counseling psychology at the University of Maryland where she received her Bachelor of Science in psychology and Masters of Science in counseling psychology. Through her work alongside her faculty advisor, Dr. Karen O'Brien, Karoline aims to contribute to the power of research and knowledge to inform decisions and change lives.

Anvari, Morgan

Morgan Anvari is a doctoral candidate in the Clinical Psychology program at the University of Maryland, College Park, working with Dr. Jessica Magidson in the Global Mental Health and Addiction Program (GMAP). Morgan received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park, where she was awarded the University’s 2020 Undergraduate Researcher of the Year Award for her work in GMAP and the Maryland Psychotherapy Clinic and Research Lab.
